Lesson Observation Form

Its aim is to collect information in order to diagnose each classroom situation in terms of assessing students’ speaking abilities with formative assessment tools. The form helps to identify strong points as well as good practices used when teaching speaking skills. Its application promotes the use of interesting and valuable teaching techniques. It also encourages the exchange of good practice, professional development, and as a result, enhancement of the quality of foreign language teaching. While observing the lesson, the visiting teacher describes briefly its particular aspects which concern mainly teacher’s and students’ activities connected with six pillars of formative assessment. The form promotes an exchange of good practice, systematic and further development of teaching skills and, eventually, raising the quality of foreign language education. The form can be applied by various educational institutions (primary, secondary, and tertiary level, foreign language centres).
