PEER OBSERVATION FORM

The peer observation form can be used to diagnose the situation concerning the application and use of formative assessment tools by the foreign language teachers who are familiar with this kind of assessment and try to use particular tools in their work with students. Special attention is paid to speaking skills and various ways of their assessment.

While observing the lesson, the visiting teacher pays special attention to and briefly describes particular aspects which concern teacher’s and students’ activities connected with 6 pillars of formative assessment (motivating atmosphere, giving feedback, and the degree of students’ involvement). In a separate section of the form the teacher is asked to describe innovative, interesting, and most of all, effective teaching techniques.

The peer observation form promotes the exchange of good practice, systematic development of teaching skills, and, eventually, raising the quality of foreign language education. This form can be applied in various educational institutions.
